During 1980 entertaining programme by famos comedy film star shahir Dada kondake was organized. Later during mid eighties Musical Drama was presented by well known sister actor Mrs. suhasini moolgaonker. Through telephonic and oral communication Pinic cum Get together was organized at West Park in 1992, where the foundation of generating the database stared. There was a great excitement and happiness among, about 30 to 40 families to meet each other in our traditional outfits and have a chat about each others welfare in our Mother tongue, Marathi. With this background and data of telephone numbers ad addresses some enthusiastic volunteers started organizing cultural and entertainment programs to bring maharashtrians together and maintain out cultural values.

Such programs were very much appreciated and supported by the Marathi residents of Singapore ; this led to the idea of forming Maharashtra Mandal. Organizers started working in this direction and prepared the constitution in order to get approval and recognition from Singapore government. In August 1994 Maharashtra Mandal ( Singapore ) received the kind approval by government. Today on the roll of Maharashtra Mandal ( Singapore ) we have more than 600 members and this figure is increasing day by day. Maharashtra Mandal ( Singapore ) organizes a variety of programs each year and these programs are enjoyed with great enthusiasm by all.
